Whether you&#8217;re an architect or a private individual, Bettina&#8217;s advice will make Biophilic Design accessible to everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alessandra Parolini:<\/strong> In this final podcast episode, which has explored <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/verdeprofilo.com\/en\/biophilia-an-evolutionary-adaptation-that-concerns-all-human-beings\/\">biophilia,<\/a> its evolution, description, and principles, we will discuss <strong>how to apply these principles in a practical way<\/strong>, both for architects and private individuals. We will talk about how to integrate biophilia and Biophilic Design into homes or architectural projects.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bettina Bolton:<\/strong> Regarding practical application, in the previous episode, we talked about <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/verdeprofilo.com\/en\/the-most-accredited-biophilic-design-protocols-and-the-role-of-greenery-in-the-protocols\/\">various existing protocols<\/a>. There are several, but I mainly mentioned five, which ultimately <strong>are complementary and not contradictory<\/strong>. If you want to apply Biophilic Design effectively, it&#8217;s important to <strong>follow these protocols closely<\/strong>, because precision is crucial. As I\u2019ve already said, we have specific inputs that lead to specific outputs, and if we want to achieve something truly effective for the <strong>psychophysical health of people<\/strong>, we must be very precise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is often thought that <strong>Biophilic Design is expensive. The answer is: it depends<\/strong>. It can be costly, especially in the case of renovations or new projects, but you can decide on the level of intervention. Involving an expert, such as a Biophilic Design consultant, is helpful, especially if included at the beginning of the project. However, <strong>even without an expert, small adjustments<\/strong> can be made to improve the environment. For example, in homes, we often see that <strong>natural light is not fully utilized<\/strong> due to plants in front of windows or furnishings that block the light. Simple actions like moving plants or <strong>changing the curtains can make a difference.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alessandra Parolini:<\/strong> So, even small changes can contribute significantly?<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bettina Bolton:<\/strong> Absolutely. Even the <strong>use of natural colors<\/strong> \u2014 such as those of the sky, water, forest, or earth \u2014 can have a positive impact. It\u2019s important to use <strong>natural materials<\/strong>, not only for finishes but also for decorative objects. The more natural the materials, the better for the <strong>health of the environment<\/strong>. Even images and decorations inspired by nature can have a positive effect. And, of course, we can&#8217;t forget plants: the <strong><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/verdeprofilo.com\/en\/plants-in-the-office-3-projects-for-inspiration\/\">inclusion of plants<\/a> is one of the most obvious aspects<\/strong> and often the least expensive.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alessandra Parolini:<\/strong> Plants are definitely a classic that always works!<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bettina Bolton:<\/strong> Yes, the important thing is to <strong>create green corners<\/strong>, perhaps small <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/verdeprofilo.com\/en\/indoor-garden-ideas-for-a-modern-home\/\">indoor gardens.<\/a> We can also add natural textures and fractals in the decor. These adjustments don\u2019t necessarily have to be expensive and can <strong>significantly improve the quality of life at home.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alessandra Parolini:<\/strong> Exactly, even creating small regenerative corners with proper lighting can do a lot.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bettina Bolton:<\/strong> Exactly. <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/verdeprofilo.com\/en\/natural-light-and-our-circadian-rhythm\/\">Light is another key element<\/a>, often underestimated and left as the last detail in projects. In reality, <strong>light should be considered from the beginning<\/strong>, integrated into the overall project. A <strong>holistic approach<\/strong> is essential: all elements must work together harmoniously.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alessandra Parolini:<\/strong> I completely agree. It\u2019s necessary to think of the project as a whole, without adding elements only at a later stage.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bettina Bolton:<\/strong> Exactly, we need to approach projects holistically. In our <strong>Biophilic Design model,<\/strong> we have ten main themes. It&#8217;s not necessary to apply all of them in a single project, because every project is unique, as are the clients and their needs. However, <strong>there are essential and universal needs<\/strong> that all humans share, and our model aims to meet these universal needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alessandra Parolini:<\/strong> Thank you, Bettina, you\u2019ve shared a lot of information about this discipline.
